James Voros James hails from Llanelli in South Wales. Always a keen musician, starting with the piano at the age of 6, and the trombone at the age of 10, James is dedicated to promoting the cause of music throughout his life. In Brass Band circles, James has played principal trombone with 3 championship section bands in Wales, as well as playing principal trombone with the National Youth Brass Band of Wales after his first audition at the age of 15, under the direction of James Watson. James has played under the baton of musical directors such as James Watson, Dr. Robert Childs, Ray Farr, and others. James has played at a number of high-profile events, including performances at the Nova Scotia International Tattoo in Halifax, Canada which held audiences of up to 8000 people for 10 shows. James is keen on other areas of music, and has written several pop songs, and arranged several others through Dolce Productions. Samples are available on the site. James has recently taken up bass guitar and some very basic guitar playing to aid in these arrangements. As well as the pop idiom, James has worked in some aspects of jazz, playing for the Steve Waterman Jazz Orchestra on their first recording back in 2004, and has played with other jazz and big bands. James also writes his own jazz music, using improvisation as the basis for his creative flow. From a technology point of view, James has always had a fondness for everything technical, and began looking at recording at the age of 14 in his own home. At tertiary college these skills were refined and developed, and gained him an “A” and Music Technology AS and A Levels. Within the company, James plays a vital role in creating and maintaining the website, and in engineering, scorereading, editing and mastering the recordings created alongside Gareth. Gareth Ritter. Gareth lives in Cardiff and is currently as teacher of music at Willows High School. His interest in music started at an early age playing tenor horn in his local village band. At present he plays with the Buy As You View Band who are currently ranked number 1 in the world. Gareth has won many solo contests locally and regionally which include, Rotary Young Musician of the Year. As a youngster he went on many tours with the Gwent County Youth Brass Band and has recently returned from a three week tour of New Zealand and Australia. Being a member of the Buy As You View Band has given him the chance to play in some of the finest concert halls in the world, such as The Royal Albert Hall, Grieg Hall, Symphony Hall and many others. Between the ages 16 to 21 Gareth was a member of the National Youth Brass Band of Wales and the European Youth Brass Band. He has played for many important people who include HRH Queen and Nelson Mandela. Gareth has delivered master classes and taken many sectionals on his instrument, the euphonium. He has been involved in Gwent Music Support Service from a young age, starting in the training band. On many occasions he have been a soloist with the County band. Gareth enjoys giving recitals and delivers them as often as he can. Gareth is also an accomplished singer; having passed grade 8 singing, which allowed him to study singing during his first year at music college. He has sung with the National Youth Choir of Wales and many other singing ensembles such as Dowlais Male Voice Choir of which he is currently a member. During his final year at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama, as well as studying euphonium he accepted a place on the conducting course as a second study. His tutors were Howard Williams and Dr Robert Childs who are both well respected conductors in their own areas, orchestral and brass band. This has resulted in him having conducted many bands in Wales, in both concerts and contests. Previously Gareth held the position of Musical Director and instructor with the Powys Army Cadet Force Band, a post which he held for two years. In this post he was required to organize rehearsal weekends and concerts which include prestigious events such as performing for HRH Queen. At present Gareth runs a youth band on a Saturday morning which he has built up over the past three years having started many children off on brass instruments, While studying for his degree Gareth worked part time for Gwent Music Support Service. He has taught on a one to one basis and as part of a group. All his pupils have performed well and achieved good grades in exams. Gareth enjoys playing for the Buy As You View Band and hopes to spend many more years with them. In the recording sense, Gareth has been using various software packages for 4 years, and always keeps up to date with recent developments in this area. Gareth has a passion to learn everything about this side of music, and is an integral part of the whole recording process with Dolce Productions.
